Crimson Desert is Pearl Abyss’s new Fantasy Action RPG. A South Korean developer and publisher well-known for bringing the popular Black Desert Online. This time, offering a single-player adventure in the world of Pywell.
You’ll play as Kliff, captain of the Greymanes, in search of ancient artifacts. Which hold the key to save Pywell from a dangerous yet mysterious looming threat. A game that has certainly sparked interest, with its intriguing world and the promise of a AAA single-player RPG experience.
Crimson Desert: Launch Window Revealed at The Game Awards
Among the many presentations at The Game Awards 2024, we also got Crimson Desert. Pearl Abyss brought a fantastic trailer with a strong action cut. Showcasing Pywell’s stunning world, numerous combat scenes, and even some of the bosses we’ll have to face.
The trailer ends with the reveal of Crimson Desert ‘s release window, aiming for a late 2025 release. Confirming that the team has progressed quite far in the development, which we know has began since at least 2020, following the big reveal on 22 December 2020.
Crimson Desert – What to Expect from Pearl Abyss
Crimson Desert is definitely a unique choice from the team. Opting for an open-world single-player game, as opposed to their multiplayer titles, led by Black Desert. We’ve already seen how Pywell’s world feels alive, full of challenges, and with a gripping storyline.
Built on the new iteration of the BlackSpace Engine from Black Desert. This makes it visually pleasing and certainly standing out among the many games relying on UE5. Confirmed for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC (Steam), though pricing is yet to be announced. Despite strong competition in Action RPGs in 2025, Crimson Desert will surely be one to watch.
