The team at Artificial Core finally announces the Early Access release for their ambitious game Corepunk. A unique MMORPG with MOBA mechanics.

Corepunk is an ambitious MMORPG developed by the Dutch studio Artificial Core. A small team founded over 10 years ago, it began development in 2019 with the first presentation in 2020. This MMO blends classic RPG elements with some MOBA mechanics.
Corepunk features an open world to explore, complete with Fog of War. With PvE and PvP challenges and leaderboards, it promises a unique experience with isometric view and a colorful steampunk aesthetic. Using a Buy-to-Play model, with only cosmetic items available for purchase.
The team at Artificial Core has officially announced the start of Corepunk’s Early Access phase. Their ambitious RPG-MOBA hybrid moves forward after the Alpha 4 phase, ongoing since August 2024.
Early Access officially launched on 26th November 2024, allowing players to try the game. This phase features no server wipes, supports 32 in-game text languages, introduces Episode 2, and more exciting updates.
Corepunk bridges classic RPG and MOBA gameplay, creating an interesting hybrid. Its main features include:
The open world is presented in Seasons and Episodes, offering self-contained progress for players. Early Access includes 3 biomes to explore: the swamp, forest, and steppes.
Corepunk adopts the classic isometric view of MOBAs, combined with Fog of War, adding depth and a strategic element to PvP gameplay.
Fast-paced MOBA-like gameplay integrates action RPG elements. Players enjoy in-depth customization via a skill tree with 8 branches for passive skills and weapon specializations. A balanced crafting system further enhances the experience.
Corepunk caters to different playstyles. While encouraging group play, it offers features for solo players, including specialized gear, systems, and skill branches tailored to lone adventurers.
Artificial Core ambitiously opts for a Buy-to-Play model over the typical Free-to-Play structure. Early Access is available via four game tiers:
Higher-tier rewards are mostly cosmetic. Corepunk is available only through its own launcher on PC, not on Steam, Epic, or GOG, nor consoles at least for now. As the team plans to focus on the official launch and fixing the game.
Artificial Core offers an ambitious hybrid of MOBA and MMORPG, which has intrigued many players. With a Buy-to-Play model and cosmetic-only DLC, the game is appealing to those who prefer this approach.
However, the €33 Early Access price might deter some, especially without the support and refund systems of platforms like Steam or Epic. Corepunk’s 1.0 release is planned for 2025. Whether Artificial Core’s gamble pays off will soon be revealed, and it remains to be seen if Corepunk will expand to platforms or consoles.
