Commandos Origins Release Date Is Final – Comes Out On April 9

Commandos Origins, the long-awaited addition to the beloved tactical stealth series, is almost here! Fans of the franchise have been eagerly awaiting this new installment which promises to bring the classic real-time strategy gameplay to modern consoles with fresh features and improved mechanics. After months of anticipation, the developers have finally revealed the game’s new and final release date. The wait is almost over, and here’s everything you need to know!
Commandos Origins Has A New Release Date
Slated for a March 2025 release, Commandos Origins faced a slight delay to ensure it meets the high expectations of fans. In a February 7 announcement, the developers stated that the game’s launch is postponed to allow for additional polishing. Thankfully though, they have committed to a definitive release date: April 9, 2025.
On this date, Commandos Origins will be available for digital purchase for PC via Steam, Windows PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. Then physical retail editions for Windows PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 are scheduled to follow on May 22, 2025. These retail editions will include all content from the Deluxe Edition.
While it feels like new releases are opting to forgo “older” consoles, Commandos Origins wont. Digital versions for Xbox One (via Xbox Smart Delivery) and PlayStation 4 are also in the works and confirmed to launch later in the year.
Commandos: Origins invites players to step into the boots of an elite team of soldiers during World War II. This real-time tactical stealth game emphasizes precision, strategy, and teamwork as players lead a squad of six infamous characters on daring missions behind enemy lines. Each character brings their unique set of skills to the battlefield, allowing players to mix and match abilities to overcome challenges in creative ways.
With over 10 missions spanning historically accurate WWII environments including the frigid Arctic and the scorching African desert, players will face varied objectives requiring their full tactical expertise. The game offers multiple approaches to success, from sneaking and climbing to driving vehicles or executing coordinated team actions. Commandos: Origins also boasts modernized controls and includes a cooperative multiplayer mode, allowing two players to tackle missions together either online or via local split-screen.
Where to play Commandos Origins for free?
Great news for Xbox Game Pass members! Commandos: Origins will be available day one on Game Pass for both PC and console. This means that Game Pass subscribers, whether on PC Game Pass or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, can go into the action the moment the game unlocks on April 9, 2025.
