Call of Duty Warzone is Free-to-Play and Free-for-Everyone
Call of Duty Warzone is a massive new combat experience from the franchise and it is free-to-play as well as free-for-everyone.
The game is now live and can be accessed in two different ways. If you own Call of Duty Modern Warfare, you will get to see Warzone in the Main Menu where the Classified panel once was. If you have the most recent title updates for Modern Warfare, your download for Warzone would just be 18-22 GB. Once downloaded, you will be able to enter the lobby and play.
For non-owners of Call of Duty Modern Warfare, you are able to access Warzone through the first-party stores. You will just have to choose and download Call of Duty Warzone and then download. This will be about 83-101 GB which would probably take several hours to download depending on your bandwidth.
Warzone offers two game modes which are Battle Royale and Plunder. In Battle Royale, players get to battle against 150 players and be the last squad standing while a deadly gas closes in. In Plunder, players would race to collect the most in-match cash. This can be done by looting, taking down enemies and stealing their cash, and finishing in-match contracts.
Both modes will have players squad up in trios. This can be played with your friends across PC (Battle.net), PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
Warzone is set in Verdansk which is a huge city with multiple zones with around 300 points of interest. Each zone will have its own landmarks and environment types.
Vehicles are also available in the game which are the ATV, Tactical Rover, SUV, Cargo Truck, and Helicopter. Each one would offer different levels of protection, off-road capacity, seating, and speed. Also, each vehicle will have a health meter. Once the health meter reaches zero, the vehicle will explode.
Some unique mechanics had been added to the game like the Gulag in the Battle Royale mode. In this mechanic, you are taken as a “prisoner of warzone” and will be thrown into the Gulag. You will have to face-off with a single opponent in a 1v1 battle to be rewarded redeployment so that you are able to go back to Verdnask.
Another mechanic is the Contracts which can be found across Verdnask. Completing these contracts would reward you in-match cash as well as loot items. The in-match cash can be used to redeploy a squadmate who had been taken as a prisoner of Warzone. There are different kinds of contracts available, some would even give you special rewards.
Call of Duty Warzone is now available for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
