Unexplored 2 The Wayfarer’s Legacy is a challenging table-top inspired rogue-lite RPG developed by Ludomotion, explore a procedurally-generated fantasy world as the wayfarer you took on the quest to destroy the staff of Yendor but in order to do that you will need to traverse the world, meet various tribes, encounter magical creatures, and explore ancient ruins in order to discover a way to destroy the staff. When your character dies the world, itself will remain and persist and your legacy will live on and take over your mission. The game does not have grinding, XP, or gold instead the game’s currency is all about choices and their consequences as history unfolds.

• You can try to Fulfill your quest by relying on consecutive wayfarers in the same world, but once you die during the final mission the world itself will end permanently, so you have to make sure that you’re ready and you know everything that is needed to know when you tackle it. The only thing left now is to generate a whole new world and begin your quest anew.
• The game features many systems that all interweave together to create a unique experience every time you play, even after hundreds of hours of gameplay.
  • Legacy System: Actions of your past wayfarers impact the fortunes of those that follow in their footsteps, use it wisely to give succeeding wayfarers better chances at destroying the staff of Yendor.
  • Permadeath: As mentioned before once your hero dies, he dies permanently, you can choose to return to the same world as the Wayfarer’s legacy or begin anew in a completely different world.

Unexplored2 is an ambitious and interesting roguelike that falls short of what it could be. The unique Dungeons & Dragons-inspired roleplaying system is let down by a lackluster combat feel and a litany of bugs that lead to frustration. I do think it’s a title that’s worth keeping an eye on though, as there’s a whole heap of potential resting just under the surface.

Overall, Unexplored 2: The Wayfarer’s Legacy does what it sets out to do. It creates a genuine sense of adventure that is only intensified by its procedurally-generated structure. The game does have its issues, with combat that struggles to really make the player feel involved, but nonetheless, it’s an enjoyable experience.
