About this game

A solitary, third-person horror action-adventure game with a distant, meditative island setting. You must create, combat, and escape from the psychedelic monsters set free when a spiritual ritual goes horribly wrong and awakens a dimension of cosmic terror in order to survive.

• Engage in conversation with the retreat attendees as they progressively become engulfed by their own negative energy. As you piece together the strange history of the island, fight off a variety of prismatic creatures and cultists that have been let out from The Gloom.
• You must pick your battles and use spiritual powers and weaponry to fight for your life. Manage your resources to take a chance in close-quarters fighting or give in to fear and go.
• It all comes down to balance. Protect your body from harm; elevate your spirit to meditate and access supernatural skills. Steel your thoughts against terror and fear.
• Experience a panorama of colored lighting and an electronic rock soundtrack written by the acclaimed Paul Ruskay, inspired by the psychedelic terror of the 1970s.

It has a good atmosphere, simple mechanics and a fun overall story that kept me going for the six to seven hours it took. This is going to be one of those games that will be looked at in a few years as a hidden gem that people didn’t play.

Despite some teething problems, The Chant is certainly worth a playthrough for those who appreciate the survival horror genre. More importantly, this debut title has me excited for what’s next from Brass Token.
