Initially released on Steam last year, the indie team of Alloy Mushroom is finally bringing Super Alloy Ranger to the Nintendo Switch with the final release of the title, a more polished and updated version of the game. A title that is heavily inspired by the classic Megaman games on top of Metal Slug and a bit of other classic metroidvania, but formerly close to the Megaman experience. In this title we'll have the choice of two characters, Marksman Kelly being able to shoot projectile, or No.2 one of the two robot sister, focusing on close combat. The story is rather simple, and we see the space hunter Kelly along with his partner Rambos finding themselves trapped on planet Tanwada after following the traces of the criminal Lamos, carrying a reach bounty on this head. Here they team up with the two robot sisters No.2 and No.3 in order to fight a way out, while exploring Tanwada which seems to have been infected by a virus which has infected the robot army and is allowing them to further evolve. Set in a total of 10 stages, with 5 stages to choose from as starting points, we'll unlock the latter 5 by completing each of the first 5 in the order we prefer, thus allowing us to choose on which order we'll get to fight the end of stage bosses. With both characters being able to dash, dash in midair, double jump and use a charged attack, with a 5 second cooldown, on top of their regular attack, we'll also be able to collect bolts dropped from enemies to increase our final score, not to mention being able to boost our attack by collecting the various Blue Sparks, scattered throughout each stage, with every 20 of them levelling our attack by 1, for a max of 100. These Sparks may also be hidden in hidden areas or secret areas, some of which can only be accessed by using keys (with the pause menu showing how many we have and how many are left). Levelling up our attack is rather useful, as a single level does make a huge difference in a boss fight, visibly dealing more damage to bosses and requiring less time to do so. As this is inspired by older Megaman titles, there' a lack of timer, but you'd definitely want to speed things up after a few run when you are more accostumed to levels and the game itself. Thanks to the presence of 2 characters with different gameplay styles, a really nice soundtrack that will accompany during our platforming and fighting sessions, nice boss fights, Super Alloy Ranger is shaping up to be a great experience on the go on NIntendo's console, for a modest price and about 8 hours of total content, with a very high replayability factor.
