I grew up playing the Prince of Persia games, especially the classic 2D ones, before finally trying Sands of Time on my first Windows PC. Finally the series is back, and I hope Ubisoft does a great job with it as they usually do.
Assassin’s Creed was supposed to be a spiritual successor to PoP, but it kinda morphed into something different, so I’m glad to see the original series is back.
Prince of Persia is FINALLY back. But an unexpected return in its new form. Gone are the 3D open world and PS2 games we’ve all come to know… we’re on 2D scrolling, with a metroidvania-style action game. With ultra-dynamic, evolving battles and demanding platforming phases, the protagonist, Sargon, will have his work cut out for him. The genre has been enjoying a renaissance since Hollow Knight, so perhaps this is the right wave to catch?
The return of a Prince of Persia after well over 14 years since the last main chapter. The game gets a total makeover, perhaps a bit too cartoony that has tired in the long run, and makes it more generic, as well as the choice yes to return to platforming in 2.5 but with the adoption of the typical metroidvania-like system.
We will have to wait closer to the January 15, 2024 release for more confirmations. Although the 50€ and Epic/Ubisoft exclusive is not the best.
Featuring a new character named Sargon, the forthcoming platform game Prince of Persia The Lost Crown will bring plenty of action! It’s been a while since the series has received a sequel, and the new title could not only reignite interest to the franchise, but also enrich it with Metroidvania-style gameplay elements. With great animations, dynamic combat and exciting gameplay, this game is promising to be fun!
