NHL 24 is an ice hockey simulation game developed by EA Vancouver, the 33rd main installment of the NHL video game franchise this iteration includes many overhauls from NHL 23 including total control skill moves, a new exhaust engine, goalie fatigue, passing system, and physics-based contact.

• The physics-based contact revolutionizes delivers realistic body checks like never before. A new ragdoll and animation-based reactions create big moments at any point in the game.
• The revamped control setup makes using high-light reel moves more intuitive and accessible. Additionally, players can now fake, pass, or deke out of every move, opening up a whole new level of creativity and strategy for players.
• Vision passing system – remaps all face buttons adding new visual cues for receivers allowing for more direct passing and the ability to pass anywhere at any time, moving the puck quickly capitalizing on more opportunities.

If you’re in the market for a good hockey game, NHL 24 is worth checking out. I’d recommend playing the EA Play trial first, but wouldn’t say boo about purchasing the game outright. That said, if you have NHL 23, or can get your hands on it, you may want to just stick with that. I unfortunately cannot say that this is a better game, even if it is still a good one.

NHL 24 is a solid improvement on-ice over last year’s title, with the exhaustion engine adding technical depth that the series has lacked.  Outside of that, some minor presentation and control improvements are countered by mostly the same overall package of modes.  If you love the NHL then this is the best playing game in the series, but if it’s $70 worth or better over last year’s is tough to say.
