About this game

Maid of Sker is a first-person survival horror game developed by wales interactive, inspired by Welsh folklore and the life of Elisabeth Williams. Set in 1988, you receive an ominous letter from your wife explaining that her parents are keeping her hostage in her room to prevent her from running away with you. She warns you to compose a song first based on her mother’s stopwatch. You resolve to confront her family about it but not all is at it seems in hotel Sker.

Maid of Sker is still hugely entertaining, especially for people that are aware of the literary traditions that it’s tapping into. As an aesthetic, it’s probably a little nuanced and subtle for its own good (let’s face it, the video game sector isn’t big on rewarding nuance and subtlety), but it’s great and distinctive.
