FIFA 22 is the 2022 iteration of the game from the FIFA franchise it has a plethora of brand-new innovations, the most prominent one is the use of Hyper Motion technology, only available on next-generation consoles (eighth generation consoles and PC’s will not have Hyper Motion technology) it features a super realistic movement animation made possible by using an advanced machine learning system analyzing 8.7million frames from a recording of real players playing the game while wearing advanced motion capture suits, it writes up new animations while you’re playing the game.

• General AI overhaul for next-gen consoles: FIFA 22 will feature better tactical behaviors from the game’s AI systems while attacking, players will have more environmental awareness allowing them to make more sound decisions while defending the AI will move more as a team. Goalkeepers will also get an overhaul making them more reliable overall.
• With the new Hyper Motion technology, the balls will also have a more realistic weight to them, made possible by importing real-world ball physics data into the game. In effect controlling the ball while in midair and moving will feel more natural and fluid.
• Fan-favorite game modes will be returning to the game as well with new general improvements added to them modernizing them to FIFA 22 standards namely; Volta Football, Pro Clubs, career mode, and FIFA 22 Ultimate Team.

FIFA 22 is undoubtedly a step forward for the franchise, and the new Hypermotion engine on new-gen consoles is totally worth it, though it’s pretty clear it’s not everybody’s cup of tea. EA clearly has a lot of things to polish in FIFA 22, and the first update that is already live on PC is the living proof the company is very committed to doing this in the short term.

While FIFA 22’s gameplay is still great, its flashy qualities make it fun to watch, and Career Mode & Volta offer some much-needed variety, its core experience feels a little too similar to previous generations of gaming. That’s a problem EA will need to solve moving forward.
