Conscript takes its evident passion for survival horror and infuses it with purpose and grit through a harrowing depiction of war. More than just homage, Conscript comfortably sits alongside the best, and more unique, of the genre.
Despite wearing many of its influences on its sleeve, CONSCRIPT never ends up feeling derivative, instead it carves out its own identity through a raw, layed portrayal of trench warfare. There are some slight rough edges, to be expected in-part due to the game largely being a sole venture, but nevertheless CONSCRIPT hits where it matters and succeeds in creating an affecting depiction of its source material.

The survival horror genre has seen many games, but Conscript seems to be able to add its own touch of originality. With its pixelated graphics, it takes us back to 1916 after the Battle of Verdun, and in this macabre historical context, we play the role of a French soldier searching for his missing brother. Through trenches and other gloomy corners, you must survive in the face of a tough enemy and a threatening environment, using equipment and weapons of the period.
I like survivals, but you know most of them focus into building a base and settling somewhere, but this one is more about surviving in the middle of the 1st World War, scavenge for food and resources, solve puzzles to get special items, avoid combat if you can, you are just only one soldier, and try to find your lost brother in the middle of the conflict. A game more focused on the story and the struggle and being shown in pixel art, to avoid too much gore I guess
