If we already know that Microsoft will participate in a big way at Gamescom, we also have further news regarding Call of Duty Black Ops 6. The sixth main installment in the Black Ops series will indeed have its campaign reveal during the Opening Night Live at Gamescom 2024.
The news of the campaign presentation during Gamescom 2024, the most famous gaming event in Europe, comes directly from Geoff Keighley. The well-known host and organizer confirms that Call of Duty Black Ops 6 will be present during the Opening Night Live (ONL) of the event. We will learn more about the new mission that will take Frank Woods, along with his protégé Troy Marshall, to assemble a new team of rogue agents. The live event will take place on 20 August 2024, at 11 AM PT / 2 PM ET / 8 PM CEST.
On the zombie side, we received a wealth of information directly on the official Call of Duty blog on 6 August 2024. The story continues about 6 years after the events of Cold War, around the Requiem team unjustly imprisoned on Terminus Island in the Philippine Sea. Deeply scarred both physically and psychologically, the team finds themselves at the center of another outbreak and must once again work together if they want to survive and stop the Dark Aether threat once more. More information is coming soon, with several opportunities before the October launch.
As for the Multiplayer, the team has decided to reveal everything during a showcase at the next Call of Duty NEXT. This event dedicated to Black Ops 6 will be held on 28 August a week after the end of Gamescom 2024. It should also coincide with the Early Access to the Multiplayer Beta, scheduled for 30 August for those who pre-order the title or have an active Xbox Game Pass subscription. Meanwhile, an Open Beta will be available for everyone during the first weekend of September.
It seems that hundreds of users have already gotten their hands on a PS4 BETA. In fact, users with a PS4 with Modified Firmware were able to get this beta running thanks to the unofficial app, PSLAN. This app allows hosting private servers for certain games, including this BETA for Black Ops 6. This has led Activision to promptly send cease and desist letters not only to PSLAN but also to numerous leakers and everyone who spread information about the multiplayer before the official reveal. It’s a challenging situation for Activision, although those who have played the multiplayer beta are satisfied with what they experienced, especially the fluid and freer movement.
