Black Myth: Wukong New Trailer – Intense Combat Scenes Revealed

Black Myth: Wukong has once again appeared at the Summer Game Fest with a short trailer revealing its release date. But Game Science’s game is back in the spotlight, thanks to some gameplay and feedback from various gaming sites that had the opportunity to get their hands on the title, especially now that the embargo has been lifted. The latest among these is a showcase of the gameplay against bosses in Black Myth: Wukong.

Black Myth: Wukong – The Trailer Against the 5 Bosses

The new trailer, released by Video Games Chronicle (VGC), shows over 7 minutes of gameplay primarily focused on boss fights. In the showcase, we get to see 5 bosses that will appear during the dark adventure based on Sun Wukong. An adventure inspired by the famous novel Journey to the West, featuring the Monkey King as the main protagonist. The game seems to be generally inspired by the novel but appears to offer its unique take on the story, with a darker tone and grim game world.

We have a showcase of 5 bosses, demonstrating a variety of combat styles not only of the bosses but also the options available to our hero in response to different combat styles. We have:

• Red Loong: A creature based on the Chinese Dragon, capable of attacking with claws and unleashing lightning from its tail.
• Guangzhi: The longest fight against a skilled warrior armed with a double-bladed fiery spear. Very fast with primarily short-range attacks, but also capable of throwing the spear.
• Elder Jinchi: One of the most renowned antagonists, designed in the game with features similar to a Budai. Mainly area and long-distance attacks, but can transform the minions around him into explosive puppets.
• Black Bear: A massive Bear on two legs that uses brute force, also launching its full weight against Sun Wukong. A second phase integrates fiery attacks.
• Splashtoad: A muscular toad that uses its limbs and tongue to strike our hero.

What to Expect from Black Myth: Wukong and When the Game Releases

A showcase certainly full of action, where we also see the use of some techniques available to Sun Wukong, like the famous extending magical staff (Ruyi Jingu Bang), quick dodges creating afterimages, and the application of different seals and powers to the staff. All made on Unreal Engine 5, which seems to have been well utilized with fluid and lively character animations. While the gameplay looks very interesting, with some sites confirming it as more action-oriented rather than a pure soulslike, we still don’t know much about the story.

Regarding the release date, it is set for 20th August 2024, for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. But we also have some news about a demo coming well before the release date, which will surely reveal more about the narrative side of Game Science’s Black Myth: Wukong.
