Black Desert Console Is Ending Support For PS4 and Xbox One

Black Desert console is officially ending support for PS4 and Xbox One as it moves exclusively for PS5 and Xbox Series on June 26th.

The gaming industry has slowly but surely been shifting its focus toward the latest generation of consoles, and while it’s not exactly a surprise, it’s still a tough pill to swallow for players who haven’t made the jump yet. We’ve seen it happen time and time again, the slow fade-out of support for aging hardware as new tech takes over.

And let’s face it, with more and more game releases going PS5 and Xbox Series exclusive, it was always going to happen.

The latest title to follow this trend is Black Desert Console which is gearing up for a next-gen refresh and with it, saying goodbye to the previous generation.

Black Desert Console Ends Support For PS4 and Xbox One

Pearl Abyss has officially announced via X and YouTube that Black Desert Console will be ending support for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. This major update will coincide with the launch of the game’s dedicated next-gen versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

As part of this shift, the game will no longer be available for download or play on PS4 and Xbox One consoles. Additionally, purchases of in-game content will be restricted to these old consoles.

The good news? If you already own the game on PS4 or Xbox One, a free upgrade to the next-gen version will be available. Even better, all of your data and previously purchased items will carry over to your new console, so you won’t lose progress or content.

This transition is set to happen on June 26, 2025, marking the end of an era for Black Desert in the previous generation console.

There is no official word yet as to how it changes for PS Plus members, as sometimes the upgrade is not automatic with the service. Being that this update announcement was just recently made public, we can expect Sony to clarify it soon enough.

While it’s bittersweet, this move mirrors what we’re seeing across the industry. As more developers shift their resources to fully harness the power of new hardware, older systems will slowly be left behind. For Black Desert Console players, now’s the time to start planning that upgrade. If it’s any consolation, at least Pearl Abyss is making the jump as smooth as possible.
