EA is working hard on Battlefield 6 – or whatever its name will eventually be – and despite it only being in early playtesting, the company has been forced to respond to angry fans after leaks reported a battle royale mode and skill-based matchmaking (SBMM) features.

Battlefield fans are voicing their concerns following recent leaks of a battle royale mode and skill-based matchmaking leaked during its playtesting. The negativity directed at the game has seen Global community manager Totalfps respond in a Reddit thread to say leaks and shared content are “out of context.”
The next Battlefield is undergoing the most ambitious playtesting in the franchise’s history, taking place within Battlefield Labs, a collaboration between DICE, EA, and players, which is used as a playground to experiment and give feedback on the progress of the upcoming FPS.

What the Battlefield 6 Leaks Revealed
In recent weeks, datamined leaks of a battle royale mode and skill-based matchmaking have leaked online, including footage of gameplay despite players needing to sign an NDA when signing up within Battlefield Labs to playtest the first-person shooter.
On the whole, feedback from the early leaks has been positive, with EA reportedly retracting some of the takedowns of gameplay appearing online from the playtests. However, a recent Reddit thread caused a stir among fans wanting more information regarding the latest leaks, forcing TotalFPS to respond to ask for patience with development.

EA’s Official Response
Responding on Reddit, community manager TotalFPS shut down the negativity with “Okay enough,” before reminding everyone that features in Battlefield Labs “may or may not make their way to the final finish line.”
TotalFPS says EA and DICE are committed to returning the franchise back to the Battlefield that fans recognize, and to do so they need to implement features before testing them with the community in the playtest. Total FPS also called for the fans to trust them, saying “We all want to make Battlefield play like Battlefield, but we cannot do it if the trust continues to be tampered with. We must be allowed the ability to do it right – alongside you all and in the correct way.”
How to Join the Battlefield 6 Playtest
Fans wanting to join the playtest for the next Battlefield game can sign up for Battlefield Labs, where TotalFPS says “your moment will arrive” to play the game and see it for yourselves.
In a final reminder, while leaks and datamined information share potential details about the next Battlefield game, “when it comes to features, content, functionality, and more – it is only official when we share it and we are comfortable with the topic at hand.”

Battlefield 6 leaks continue to appear online, resulting in EA responding to fan concerns regarding its potential battle royale mode and skill-based matchmaking feature. What do you think of the leaks and the response by TotalFPS? Share your thoughts in the comments.
