Assassin’s Creed Shadows: What We Know About the New Co-Op Mode

With the news of the delay to 14 February 2025 for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, it seems that new rumors are adding to the mix. Rumors speak of a co-op mode for AC Shadows where you can play as Naoe or Yasuke.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows – Co-op Mode News

The news of the alleged co-op mode comes from Tom Henderson of Insider Gaming. In fact, the well-known Insider informs us of this alleged new mode on 2nd October 2024. Mode that would allow us to be able to play co-op with another player as Naoe or Yasuke.

A rather interesting news, which might help “digest” the delay of AC Shadows to next year. It’s also a strategic move by Ubisoft to address the crisis the company has been facing recently. But Tom does highlighting some news around said Co-op mode.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows – Co-op Mode Didn’t Cause the Delay

According to the insider, it seems that the cooperative mode had already been in development by the Ubisoft Montreal team. Codenamed LEAGUE, it was in development well before the decision to delay the game and did not influence the decision to postpone it.

Although, given the complexity of the project, it still seems unlikely that the co-op mode will be ready in time for the launch on 14 February 2024. But the insider reminds us that in 2025, we may also see the arrival of Assassin’s Creed Invictus, confirmed by Ubisoft in 2022 as a multiplayer AC-themed game.

 

Assassin’s Creed Shadows – What We Know About the Co-op Mode

Regarding how the Co-op mode will be implemented, we don’t yet have anything concrete. Although we can make some assumptions. It is not known for sure whether the co-op mode will be a separate mode or integrated into the game. Although the single-player nature suggests a separate mode.

An integration into the campaign would be impossible at this point, given the single-player core. Apart from free-roaming or certain sections, we will be asked to play as either the shinobi Naoe or the samurai Yasuke, reflecting a Stealth or Power approach, with different missions. So, we’ll just have to wait for more news as the release date of 14 February 2025 approaches.
