In an exclusive with GamesRadar at the 2025 Game Developer’s Conference, the game’s creative director, Jonathon Dumont, revealed the team is looking at “making even a tougher setting for difficulty for some of our players.”

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is a massive shift in tone for the series, with two playable protagonists, each having a unique playstyle, one focusing on stealth and one preferred by those who want to smash their way through obstacles.
By giving players the choice of how to play, Ubisoft’s latest Assassin’s Creed title has been successful, becoming the second best-selling day-one launch in the franchise’s history.

Dumont told GamesRadar that Ubisoft is always looking at what people are saying about Shadows and has asked fans: “How challenging do you want it?” While players can already select from easy, normal, and expert for combat and stealth, Ubisoft wants to give players more choices on how they play.
