The Best Trailers and Reveals from The Game Awards 2017

Although The Game Awards exists to recognize the best the industry has to offer every year, it’s also highly anticipated for the big announcements and new trailers often shown during the event. This year was no different as the audience was treated to a diverse array of teasers and revelations, a lot of which we’re seeing for the first time.

Here’s a look at the best trailers and announcements from the event:

PUBG showed off the much-awaited desert map called Miramar coming with the 1.0 release of the competitive shooter. The new map features harsh dry deserts surrounding a few maps Speaking of the 1.0 launch, we now have a specific date to mark on our calendars for the big day — 20 December. The Xbox One Preview will come out as scheduled on 12 December. Check out the trailer for a glimpse of what’s coming.

A Way Out

EA may have been the target of much criticism lately, but there was at least one person who (kind of) had good words for the publisher during this year’s Game Awards. That’s the guy behind A Way Out, a story-driven, co-op adventure meant to be played with a friend. He’s featured in the trailer above. Having someone to play with is so critical to the experience that the devs have opted to let you play online with a friend even if your friend doesn’t have a copy. The game will launch on 23 March for PC, Xbox One and PS4.

FromSoftware’s New Project

This was short and totally unexpected, but it may have been the most exciting seconds of the show. Sure, it’s hard to make sense of the little that was shown, but just knowing that something’s cooking in FromSoftware’s kitchen is enough to set the hype train to overdrive.

In the Valley of the Gods

Campo Santo, the studio behind Firewatch, will be dishing out another first-person, narrative-driven adventure for their second outing. In the Valley of the Gods will have players “explore a remote and ancient valley in the Egyptian desert, uncovering treasure and treachery in pursuit of a discovery that could bring you fame and fortune — or leave you for dead, buried beneath the sands.” The game will be coming to Steam but no official release date has been given.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – The Champion’s Ballad

Link will need to put his best leather jacket on as the latest expansion for Breath of the Wild will have him riding his very own motorcycle. Although the choice to add a motorized mount into the game’s fantasy setting is very questionable, if you’re excited to see Biker Link in action nonetheless, you can get The Champion’s Ballad right now.

Soul Calibur 6

Namco Bandai teased the return of another popular IP, the weapons-based 3D fighter Soul Calibur. The trailer didn’t provide too many details, just that a very young Mitsurugi and Sophitia, who was missing in the last game, are joining the roster. A new character was also teased at the end, weilding a dual bladed weapon of some sort. The sixth installment will be coming to PC, Xbox One and PS4 in 2018.

Death Stranding

A third trailer was shown for Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding during awards night. Unfortunately, even though it was quite lengthy, we still couldn’t make much sense of it, just like the previous trailers. However, with names such as Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen and Guillermo del Toro backing Kojima’s latest project, this is one game that’s bound to be a cult-classic from the get-go.
