Microtransactions in the upcoming shooter allow you to purchase in-game currency called Crystals, which can then be used to purchase loot crates. All EA Access members get 10% off on these microtransactions. Although the currency can be earned through gameplay, purchasing them with your hard-earned, real-world money will allow you to get your hands on more loot crates earlier.

Players will be able to purchase three types of loot crates using Crystals. Each loot crate will contain “one or two” Star Cards, crafting parts and one random item — emotes, weapons, victory poses, or other kinds of Star Cards.

Loot crates cause quite a stir during the game’s beta as it made the game lean heavily towards pay-to-win territory. EA addressed these concerns by making some changes to the system for the final release, the highlights of which are putting level requirements for crafting upgrades and making the most powerful items earnable only via in-game achievements. However, it remains to be seen whether these changes will be enough to remove the pay-to-win factor.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 officially launches on 17 November for PC, Xbox One and PS4. EA Access members can already experience 10 hours of the game on PC and Xbox One. Those who bought the Deluxe Edition get full access early starting 14 November.
