Sega announces a Direct dedicated to the new Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, showcasing the new pirate-themed spin-off of Like a Dragon!

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is a new chapter in the Like a Dragon series by Ryu Ga Gotoku. Published by SEGA, it offers a spin-off set after the events of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. Featuring Goro Majima as protagonist and unlikely pirate crew captain.

Providing a vibrant spin-off game in true Yakuza style, but with an intriguing pirate-themed twist. The game will launch on February 20, 2025, for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC.

With a release scheduled for late February, the SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku team will hold a special Direct dedicated to the new Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. This spin-off will feature Majima in a fully pirate-themed game. The Direct will take place on 9 January 2025, at 9:00 am PST/6:00 pm CET on SEGA’s official YouTube channel.

The Direct will provide a closer look at the game and will surely include comments and new info from the Ryu Ga Gotoku team. As the game has already sparked strong interest among fans, with some jokingly commenting that the new Pirate Yakuza offers a more authentic pirate experience than Skull & Bones.

As mentioned, we’ll play as the iconic and eccentric Goro Majima. Who finds himself stranded on a Hawaiian island after losing his memory. There will be four explorable islands: Rich Island, Madlantis, Nele Island, and Honolulu. The classic beat-em-up system from previous entries will return. With Majima having access to his Mad Dog style alongside the new Sea Dog style.

Majima will also have sabers and pistols to fit the pirate theme. Sailing and the sea will play a key role, with opportunities to upgrade your crew and ships, engage in naval battles, and board enemy ships. The adventure won’t lack the quirky Yakuza side, with Majima searching for a mysterious treasure while recovering his lost memories.
