Switch 2: Nintendo’s Next Big Console Reveal Coming by March

Nintendo is still on course to reveal the Switch 2 this fiscal year. In the company’s latest earnings report, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa confirmed plans for the upcoming console are still the same, with a full reveal expected in early 2025.


The Nintendo Switch 2, or whatever the console will eventually be called, will officially be unveiled by the end of March, 2025. The news comes from Nintendo’s recent earnings report, with Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa confirming the company still plans to reveal the console this fiscal year.

Furukawa first teased the Switch 2 in May when he posted on X that we’ll get news about the Nintendo Switch successor by this coming March. There was hope that we’d have official details on the console before the end of 2024. Unfortunately, it’s likely we’ll get specs and details in early 2025.

What We Know So Far

Rumors about the Switch 2 have been swirling since last year. In January 2024, there were reports the hybrid console would feature an 8-inch screen and a battery life of up to nine hours, thanks to the NVIDIA Tegra T239 processor. In comparison, the original Switch features a 6-2 inch screen and a battery life of 2.5 to 6.5 hours.

As for graphics, Switch 2 users can expect a significant improvement over the original Switch. Sources suggest the console will be on par with the Steam Deck and support NVIDIA DLSS Super Resolution and Ray Reconstruction. Nintendo is cramming the upcoming Switch 2 with plenty of power to deliver boosts in performance and visuals over the Switch.

Why March Matters

Furukawa’s confirmation about the console reveal coming by the end of March 2025 lines up with the end of the fiscal year. With the holiday season quickly approaching, Nintendo seemingly wants to delay any announcement until the new year. It makes sense, particularly if the company wants people to purchase the Switch this festive season.

Ultimately, we will get the official Switch 2 reveal within the next few months. That includes specs, release date, price, and when we can pre-order the console. March 2025 will mark eight years since the Nintendo Switch launched on March 3, 2017.
