Fourteen years ago, Red Dead Redemption burst onto the gaming scene setting a new standard for open-world adventures with its richly detailed portrayal of the American frontier. Initially released in 2010 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, Rockstar Games’ western epic was celebrated for its immersive storytelling, landscapes, and engaging gameplay.
Critics praised its narrative and complex characters, while players quickly fell in love with John Marston’s journey through the lawless West. Garnering widespread acclaim, the game earned a reputation as one of the finest games of its era, inspiring a dedicated fanbase and even a celebrated expansion, Undead Nightmare.
Now, after more than a decade, Red Dead Redemption is finally making its way to PC, offering a new generation of players the chance to experience a timeless classic in a whole new light.
Red Dead Redemption is finally launching on PC, along with the fan-favorite Undead Nightmare expansion. It features the single-player campaigns of both games plus some bonus content from the Game of the Year Edition.
Set for release on October 29 on Steam and the Epic Games Store, the PC version features impressive enhancements, including native 4K resolution, up to 144Hz frame rate, ultrawide and HDR10 support, and keyboard and mouse functionality.
It also incorporates NVIDIA DLSS 3.7, AMD FSR 3.0, and Frame Generation for optimized performance, along with adjustable draw distances and shadow quality settings.
As for the Steam Deck compatibility, there is no confirmation on this yet but considering that the game has a Nintendo Switch version and that other Rockstar releases are compatible with the Steam handheld, it is more likely than not.
With this launch, Red Dead Redemption is now playable on PC, Playstation 3 and 4, Xbox 360 and One.
Red Dead Redemption PC preload has started and it has come to 9.43 GB file size. The game’s global launch is set on October 29 at 7AM PDT / 2PM GMT / 3PM CET for both Steam and Epic.
