Civilization VII Updates Its PC System Requirements, 32GB RAM Needed for 4K Gameplay

Civilization VII won’t come out until Feb of next year but we can start gearing up for it. With the PC system requirements out, we can now check whether we need to upgrade to play the latest installment in this long-running critically-acclaimed franchise.

Civilization VII PC Requirements

Firaxis Games updated Civilization VII’s PC requirements a few days ago. On their official Steam announcement on the matter, an update notice stated, “We’ve updated the Minimum specs and Recommended graphics preset since this was first published to better reflect expected performance.”

Civilization VII PC Requirements


Players and fans of Civ are relieved to know that it doesn’t take much to just play the game. Considering that it’s been 8 years since Civ 6, it was pretty nerve racking while waiting for this reveal. With a GPU of Nvidia GTX 1050, an Intel i3 CPU, and 8GB of RAM being the minimum, it’s definitely achievable for gamers who weren’t able to upgrade.

Comparing Civ 6 and Civ 7 basic requirements, the latter dropped its Windows 7 and 8 support, and the required RAM doubled. And of course, 4K 60FPS gaming wasn’t a reality of Civ 6. If you’re going for this setting, note that it will require 32GB of RAM which is expected for 4K titles. At least the download size is 20GB across the board which is great especially in the midst of overwhelmingly large file sizes of games these days.



Preorders for Civilization VII are now open. There are 3 editions available: Standard, Deluxe, and Founders. The last two grants players 5 days early access. So if you manage to get that, you’ll be able to start playing Civ 7 on February 6, instead of the global launch date of February 11, 2025.
