Xbox Ambassador Program is shutting down on October 15 with weekly sweepstakes and free Game Pass Ultimate Codes. What happens next?

Xbox Ambassador Program Shutdown

Microsoft announced that its Xbox Ambassador program will be shutting down on October 15, after 13 years of operation.

Xbox Ambassador is one of the many community-based programs Microsoft has for the platform. It was meant to represent the brand and be a welcoming front for new and existing players. It was also a helping hand for issues and troubleshooting. So in some ways, they are like an employee, but not.

The Ambassadors are there to address concerns (faster than support most of the time) but not just as a regular Xbox player, as for someone to join there are requirements to be met like at least 1500 Gamerscore and being at least 17 years old.

This program, especially after its inception, was revolutionary in keeping a community happy and eager. Standout members were rewarded with Xbox physical or digital items. But even as a “regular” ambassador, there are seasonal quests rewards and various sweepstakes. Microsoft has vowed to continue this until the shutdown.



As of yesterday, Microsoft has phased out the seasonal Ambassador Quests to redirect more resources to Rewards with Xbox and Xbox Research, both of which are other avenues Xbox players have continued being involved with.

The Xbox Ambassador Champions is also evolving into Xbox Community Champions, where its goal is to bring the values to the entire Xbox fanbase rather than a selected few.

Lastly, the Xbox Ambassadors badge will be updated with a special legacy design to signify members’ once involvement with the program. This is great as the program may be disappearing but the community that was part of it will always be recognized.

Xbox Ambassador Rewards and Tickets

As mentioned above, the program will not just suddenly cease to exist. Its current members will have until October 15 to use up tickets in the weekly sweepstakes, redeem codes, and claim rewards.

And as a massive thank you to the community, Microsoft has given all participants of this season a free Game Pass Ultimate code. It was previously only given to Ambassadors who reached Diamond through quests. This particular reward though was not specified in the official statement but was revealed by Ambassadors on Reddit.



It is worth noting too that the Accessibility Explorer Path will remain open. The Accessibility Ally badge can still be unlocked but the XP will not be awarded.
