No Man’s Sky Aquarius is the latest update for Hello Games’ ever-evolving open-world survival crafting game. The update adds fishing along with fishing-related rewards to the game.
The new feature is something Hello Games has admittedly wanted to add for a while, with the company telling players to “bait your line to lure in the rarest of fish or trawl the deep for hidden messages in a bottle.”
Aquarius follows the recent Worlds Part 1 update, which added an overhaul of the game’s water physics and effects. As part of this update, players can now go fishing alone or with friends with a just a rod, on a deployable Exo-Skiffs, and in a deep-sea diving suit.
To inspire players to jump in and try the new fishing mechanic, No Man’s Sky has a new Aquarius Expedition event. It will run for six weeks and challenges players to catch fish across the galaxy. By completing the expedition, players can earn unique rewards, including an underwater jetpack.
The update also adds automated fish traps, autonomous fish farms, new cooking recipes, and a new Aquarius poster collection. Dedicated fisherman can also track their best catches with the new Fishing Records section in the Wonders Catalogue.
No Man’s Sky Aquarius is out now on PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and Switch, and is free to download.
