What is Stray?

In Stray, you play as a stray cat in a cyberpunk world. Humanity had to flee to completely sealed-off cities due to high radiation. In these cities, they built robots to perform all tasks. Over time, however, all humans died due to plagues and other factors, leaving only the robots, known as Companions, behind.

You play as a nameless stray cat who accidentally falls into one of these cities. Guided by a light, you are led to a scientist’s lab. It turns out that she uploaded her memories to the network many years ago. Now equipped with a small drone and a backpack, you navigate the city through platforming sections, interacting with many Companions. The game also offers a beautiful story and a very cute cat.

Stray was first released on June 19, 2022, for PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. A year later, in August 2023, it was also released for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. This year, it is expected to release for the last major console, the Nintendo Switch. While an exact release date is not known, it has been stated that Stray will be released in the holiday season of 2024, so it’s likely to come out between November and December.

In the 30-second trailer, which you can watch above, one thing immediately stands out: there has been a significant graphical downgrade for the Nintendo Switch. The environment and the cat itself are noticeably more pixelated and generally look much worse. Hopefully, this will be improved before the game is released for the Nintendo Switch.
