Mafia: Definitive Edition is a remake of the 2002 game Mafia, released in 2020. It’s a full-fledged remake, rebuilding the game from the ground up with updated visuals, gameplay, and story.
The game still follows a taxi driver named Tommy Angelo who gets tangled up with the Salieri crime family during the Prohibition era. It is set in the 1930s in the fictional city of Lost Heaven, Illinois.
Since then, Mafia franchise remade the 2010 sequel and released Mafia 2 Definitive Edition. This installment is set in the 1940s. Finally, Mafia 3, released in 2016, closes the series and was set in the 1950s.
…and so we thought.
Mafia 4 is apparently in the works now and is rumored to take place outside the United States and in the early 20th Century.

I have yet to play Mafia III but the first two are really great experiences all around. Good character development, gameplay, story and setting. If you’re into games like GTA and don’t mind the slower pace and mid 20th century setting, I’d easily recommend this trilogy to you. For the discounted price on Steam, it’s well worth the price.
