Ubisoft has officially announced the Prince of Persia The Sands of Time remake Rumors about the remake had been heard before and on the day of the announcement the game was already leaked via the Russian Uplay store.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time was initially released way back in 2003.
The game was genre-defining and earned praise for its gripping story, innovative and challenging gameplay, and lovable characters.
The remake is built from the ground up using the Anvil game engine and pays homage to the original, giving players the chance to relive the original but updated to modern-day standards.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake is the first complete remake of the game and features a beautifully remastered 11th century Persia, new camera angles, and completely reworked sequences.
Players will relive the Prince’s journey to redemption after unknowingly unleashing the Sands of Time on the Sultan’s kingdom.
As in the original, players will take on the role of the unnamed Prince and navigate the palace with Princess Farah.
Together they will battle savage monsters, maneuver through trap-filled rooms, and learn to use the power of the Sands to defeat the evil Vizier.
The game comes with the original 1989 Prince of Persia title and unlocks during the Prince’s journey.
Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake New Release Date moved to March 2021
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake was first announced during Ubisoft Forward in 2020 and planned to release on January 21, 2021.
Unfortunately, that date has proven to be too much, with Ubisoft officially delaying the game for a March 18, 2021, release date, citing COVID-19 as the reason.
Delaying the game, a Ubisoft statement read, “2020 has been a year like no other. Today we wanted to let you know that we are taking additional time to work on the game.”
The statement continued to say, “We believe that this is the right decision to make to ensure that we deliver a game that you enjoy. We thank you for your patience and continued support of Prince of Persia and hope you stay safe and sound during the winter season.”
Those worried about the remake venturing too far from the original need not panic, it seems, as the original voice actor for the Prince, Yuri Lowenthal, reprises his role, adding faith that the remake will be a faithful rebuilding of the original.
