Assassin’s Creed Rogue is a stealth action game developed by Ubisoft Sofia and Ubisoft Kyiv, the 7th iteration of the franchise it is the darkest chapter in the series yet takes place in 18th century North America right in the middle of French and Indian War, step into the shoes of Shay Patrick Cormac a young member of the Brotherhood of Assassin’s who wants to shape the future of the American colonies but after a botched mission, Shay turns his back on the assassins who in response attempted to end his life. • Building upon Black Flags naval mechanics, you can cast off on your ship The Morrigan, and fight your way through the icy seas of the North Atlantic and the narrow rivers of America’s river valleys. Fight off assassins trying to board your ship, and make use of new weapons like burning oil and Puckle gun.
• There are three distinct regions you can explore:
  • North Atlantic Ocean – Experience cold winds and towering icebergs of the Arctic allowing for an expansive naval playground.
  • The River Valley – A hybrid setting you will be able to experience the American frontier and seamless river navigation and exploration.
  • New York City – One of the most well-known cities of the world fully recreated as it was in the 18th century.

It is something Ubisoft needs to learn about its games on a very fundamental level: when the company isn’t sanitizing its narratives and characters to target a Call of Duty-sized blockbuster, it makes better games.

It did a suitable job of washing away the bad taste left from Unity, and I would certainly suggest it as a series palette cleanser if you’re in need of one. It’s hard to give it extremely high marks, as it does cover a lot of familiar ground and re-uses a number of assets, but outside of that, I have virtually no complaints.
