Will the Resident Evil 2 Remake have Microtransactions?
Although it took 3 years for Capcom to finally give us a peek at the upcoming remake for Resident Evil 2, fans have been very happy with what they’ve shown so far, making it seemingly worth the wait. However, the recent reveal of the game’s ESRB rating has left fans a bit worried. The rating, you see, hints at the presence of microtransactions.
One of the descriptors that ESRB gave in their rating was “In-Game Purchases”, citing 2 of the platforms the game will be releasing on (Xbox One and PS4). You can check out a screenshot of the the ESRB rating below:
Now, to be fair, Capcom has made no announcements as to whether or not the game will have microtransactions that may affect gameplay. However, it’s understandable for fans to be worried. After all, Capcom did include upgrade microtransactions in Devil May Cry 5.
However, it is important to note that other games have been given this descriptor and ended up only having additional content as DLC. This could mean that standard edition owners will get the option to purchase the deluxe version’s additional content from within the game itself.
Well, all we can really do for now is speculate. Hopefully Capcom speaks up about this soon, and hopefully it’ll all be good news.
Resident Evil 2 will launch on January 25th for PC, Xbox One and PS4.
