Overkill’s The Walking Dead Finally Heading to PC on November 8th
With Telltale closing down and the future of their take on Robert Kirkman’s post-apocalyptic world uncertain, people will be looking to Overkill’s The Walking Dead for their walker-slaying fix. The good news is that after a series of delays, the game is finally coming out on PC next week.
As most people know, Kirkman’s universe is set in a post-apocalyptic world where everybody who dies or is bitten becomes a walker, unless they’re heads are blown out or impaled. Overkill’s entry takes place in Washington D.C. and features four original characters. Each one will feature unique skills and weapon choices. Although the game will only have a slight focus on narrative, Kirkman has said that what little the game offers will be canon.
You can get a better feel of the game with the gameplay teaser below:
One thing gamers will surely be glad to know is that the game won’t feature microtransactions, even those of the cosmetic kind. Instead, all customization options will be unlockable through gameplay. For post-launch monetization, Overkill will be going with new content releases. They say their goal is “to keep a balance between free and paid updates.”
After a series of delays, Overkill’s The Walking Dead is finally set to launch on November 8th for PC, while Xbox One and PS4 players will have to wait till February 6th to get it. When asked about a Switch port, the devs only gave a not so reassuring “maybe”.
